About.
Brian G McDaid (known on the circuit as BG), is Glasgow born and bred with all the rich flavourings of that great city.
Having Irish parents, his musical heritage has been influenced by traditional and contemporary music from both Ireland and Scotland. His exposure to these influences has played an important part in his musical development. Indeed his uncle Corny McDaid was a well known Irish folk singer.
His music is undoubtedly Folk based and has been described as "..the most beautiful delicate harmonically rich contemporary folk.." It is influenced by many genres including Celtic, Traditional, Country and Jazz but Brian retains his own strong, distinct and individual style.

He's only returned home to the Clydeside in recent times, having spent many years living and working in the south of England. Even when he held down a demanding job in the south, music always served as an escape from the hectic 9-5 , and provided a release valve for his creativity.

Brian is a founding member of the successful acoustic group, Kinfolk, drawing comparisons with CSN&Y for both their song-writing and vocal style; He also collaborated with Style Council's Steve White, writing and recording a track which would become a successful charity single, raising cash for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Kinfolk released two critically acclaimed well received albums and they and their music have featured on various local and national radio stations, including the BBC.

On his solo album 'My Folk 1', Brian was joined on fiddle by another member of Kinfolk, the talented Michael Sanderson. Although recorded solely at home the album has also enjoyed success through airplay on a number of radio stations.

His latest album, 'Folk'nTrouble' is his first solo studio album and features a number of talented musicians including Angus Lyon of Blazin' Fiddles. Of this latest project Brian says "These songs should hopefully connect with the human experience on many levels. Some tracks are personal while others look out and into the experiences of the wider world"

After all of the time he's enjoyed with Kinfolk, with this latest collection he's doing it solo and, as something of a breakout album, Brian is really excited and can't wait to share it with you!

" I think I'm pragmatic and realise the barriers, but I still want to make up for lost time! I find it easier to write my songs now. I just try to stay genuine without worrying too much about what people may think. It's my style of Folk, a result of my life's musical influences. Hopefully some people will like some of it! "
